In the early days of Good Ember, I assumed I’d simply source gear from existing suppliers. How wrong I was.
Everything I found missed the mark. The quality wasn’t there, the fit was off, or the prices were simply not doable for a monthly subscription box. Designs were either aggressively gendered (think fluffy pink cuffs) or theatrical (so many studs!).
What I wanted didn’t seem to exist: high-quality, beautifully designed gear that felt as good as it looked. Pieces that were unisex so they could be shared between partners, fit real bodies, and were priced fairly.
So, I did what any self-respecting perfectionist would do: I designed it myself.
Here’s a little about the thinking that goes on behind the items we include in our boxes:
Every piece is designed to be unisex and size-inclusive. We do occasionally create sized pieces on items like harnesses when aesthetics benefit from more form fitting gear.
We use real leather for its strength, softness, and unmistakable feel. Our gear is beautiful, functional, and made to last.
Our toys are made from body-safe materials like stainless steel, glass, and silicone. They're designed to be easy to clean and adaptable to many types of uses.
We occasionally partner with trusted premium brands for consumable products. Our soy massage candles are made in small batches in British Columbia. They include only real essential oils that are safe for skin and seductive for the senses.
Because we care about the planet as much as we do about you, our shipping is carbon-neutral, our packaging recyclable, and some pieces arrive in soft velvet bags designed to be reused.
